Declaration 127

Asatru is a term that covers a wide range of people.  It is the modern rebirth of the pre-Christian indigenous faith of Norse peoples (Norwegians, Icelanders, Danes, Swedes).  Its tenets and belief vary widely, but generally, there is a consensus of the belief in the Æsir and Vanir; the exchange of gifts with the Gods and one’s kinfolk, and living one’s life in accordance with Nine Virtues.  The word Asatru means “belief or faith in the gods.”

Each individual will interpret their own spiritual path, as is appropriate.  However, there are a FEW groups and individuals that include racial exclusivity among other discriminatory policies. and will not promote, associate, or do business with these groups, particularly the Asatru Folk Assembly (AFA).

The AFA has a long and well-documented history of discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, sexuality, and gender identity.  In a recent statement, the AFA declared point blank that non-white and LGBT Heathens were not welcome in their tradition. While we fully recognize the AFA’s right to govern themselves as they see fit, and with full autonomy, we hereby exercise the same right and hereby deny all posts and listings with discriminatory policies.

If you are listing your Asatru group, event, or article on this website, you must agree to Declaration 127.
